7. Information on the Prevention and Management of Waste Batteries:

a) The role of end-user in contributing to waste prevention:

Proper use and care can extend the battery’s service life. Use batteries only for their intended purpose. Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types. Remove batteries from device if they will not be used for an extended period. Please note non-rechargeable primary batteries, they cannot be recharged, prepared for re-use, repurposed, or remanufactured.

b) The role of end-user in contributing to the separate collection:
End-users must discard waste batteries separately from general household or municipal waste. Your active participation in separate collection ensures valuable materials are treated and recycled, and to prevent environmental pollution.

c) Separate collection, take-back, and treatment operations:
Waste batteries can be returned free of charge. Please use the designated collection points and take-back systems available at retailers, municipal waste facilities, or authorized waste collection centers in your local area to ensure safe use and end-users and distribution.

d) Safety instructions for handling waste batteries:
Avoid storing waste batteries with metal objects to prevent short-circuiting. If a battery shows signs of leakage (e.g., water or crystal substance on surface), swelling, or overheating: handle it in plastic protective gloves and store separately in a plastic disposable bag. If swallowed by the child, may cause serious or fatal hazard of handout hazard format. Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, call the doctor immediately.

e) The meaning of labelling and symbol:
CE marking: indicates that the battery (or the device it is intended for) complies with applicable EU health, safety, and environmental protection requirements.
Crossed-out: wheeled bin symbol indicates that the battery should not be disposed of with unsorted household waste; it must separately collected.

f) The impact of substances on the environment and human health:

Primary batteries contain various materials (zinc, manganese, lithium, etc.). If improperly discarded (e.g., landfilled or incinerated), the electrolyte can leak and cause soil and water contamination; heavy metals may accumulate in the environment. Swallowing a battery can cause injury; batteries should be kept away from children. Inappropriate disposal increases environmental burdens, wastes recoverable materials, and may lead to fires or injuries during waste handling. Leaking batteries can cause chemical burns; always handle with care.

This information is provided to support end‑users in responsible battery use and disposal, in line with EU waste legislation.
